This is a beautiful piece made of round, red coral beads, slightly cylindric garnet beads, thin beads and small rounds of sterling silver. It is sacred to Medea, a tragic and misunderstood princess of Greek myth. She was a priestess of the Goddess Hekate and the lover and wife of Jason of the Argonauts. She did everything to support her husband and then he left her to marry a princess of Corinth and gain land title and riches. She took back all that was hers and protected her children in the only way she knew; she killed them so that they would never see the true nature of their father and could live forever happily in great comfort and joy for eternity in the underworld.

The Garnets in this piece symbolize the protective nature of Medea of Colchis. Coral is the stone associated with her too since, as the story tells, later in life she was killed. Her head was chopped off and she bled droplets of blood into the ocean where the Nerieds gathered and planted them. Soon they sprouted into an ocean forest of coral.
